The quality isn't very good, as I just took these with my iPhone before shipping them off, but these are the scarves I made for my grandparents.
The first one is a so-called "crocodile stitch" crochet scarf. It forms rows of overlapping scallops, "scales," whatever you want to call it. I found the pattern here. It's very helpful, even has videos. But I used a thicker yarn than in the pattern.
The second one is a regular cable knit scarf in Jiffy heather grey. The pattern I found in the awesome book Simple Knitting by Erika Knight. Love her classy, simple patterns.
